I’m homeschooling my 6-year-old this year, and it’s our first year. So, I’m not exactly the homeschool expert, but we are diving right in and having quite a bit of fun. For our history, science, and language arts we are using Sonlight Core A (specifically Core A for science, Language Arts 1, and Science A). You can read more about our curriculum and homeschooling choices here.
I chose Sonlight Core A because of its emphasis on “living books” and its comprehensive teacher’s manual. I also was impressed by the somewhat classical spread of information. And, my kids were delighted to see that a children’s encyclopedia was one of our “textbooks”.
So far, we’ve had an overall good experience with Sonlight though we have needed to adapt the material to fit our needs. I’ll write a review once we’ve used the core and have homeschooled long enough to give it a fair evaluation.
Here are the activities and book lists that I have written about organized by Week number and subject material. I hope that it helps any fellow Sonlight moms out!
Week 1 – Dinosaurs: Activities and Books
Reading Activity: Water Balloon Sight Words
