Today’s list of free eBooks for kids is a little shorter than normal, but it does contain some great books. (On some days, not as many books are being promoted for free, so the list is naturally shorter.)
Welcome to my new readers. Be sure to read through the following:
- Don’t forget to check prices before downloading.
- You can read a Kindle eBook on non-Amazon devices by downloading their free app unto your PC or i-pad.
- This list only reflects my personal opinion.
- This blog uses affiliate Amazon links.
- If you want to read all about how I find these books, create these lists, and choose what to feature, read my FAQ on Finding Free EBooks.
I found one beautiful free picture book Pequena the Burro.
Pequena the Burro by Jami Parkison and illustrated by Itoka Maeno
This picture book being promoted for free in honor of Hispanic Heritage month tells the story of a little donkey Pequena who has been chosen to entertain the children at a local birthday party. A donkey friend who has a gloomy outlook on life ruins Pequena’s happiness by reminding Pequena of all that could go wrong at the party. Pequena is tempted to let the negative words affect her enjoyment of the party until an emergency reminds Pequena of her ancestors’ strength in helping build Mexico.
Of the books that I have read thus far in this series, Jami Parkison and Itoka Maeno are my favorite author/illustrator team. Maeno’s watercolors are peaceful and colorful and Parkison does a great job of not letting the moralist tone of this series weigh down her stories.
Today’s list also has a notable middle-grade novel on it, Priscilla the Great by Sybil Nelson. I’ve listed Priscilla the Great before on my lists, but I don’t think I’ve ever featured this novel before.
Reviewers promise that this first book in the Priscilla series is full of humor that even adults will enjoy with a quick witted, sarcastic Priscilla who is off to save the world. This book has also won several writing awards. You can watch a trailer of the book on the Priscilla the Great website.
