Welcome to all my new followers! I think that it is wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, and educators who want to share a love of reading with children. Today’s list is full of highly rated free eBooks. You will find a nice combination of early readers, picture books for young children, puzzle books, and novels.
If you are new, take a minute to read through the following:
- Don’t forget to check prices before downloading. These eBooks typically will remain free for only a short period of time.
- You can read a Kindle eBook on non-Amazon devices by downloading their free app unto your PC or i-pad.
- Although, I try to screen as much content as I can, I am not able to fully read each book. This article reflects my opinion only based on what I have seen, so you may want to read additional reviews or skim to be sure these books are appropriate for your family.
- If you want to get these lists while the books are still free, be sure to subscribe via my RSS feed for instant updates. Email subscribers will receive one email a day between 5-7 pm EST.
- This blog uses affiliate Amazon links.
Some of the best books on today’s list of free books are:
Octopus by Cindy Bracken
Cindy Bracken (former teacher) produces some wonderful early readers and her book Octopus is no exception. With interesting facts accompanied by colorful, vivid photos this book is sure to entertain even small children. (Note: This picture book has a somewhat low rating, due to a unfair one-star rating by a parent who disagreed with Bracken’s choice to use the plural form octopuses rather than octopi.)
Bea’s Own Good by Linda Talley
You may remember that I listed several books in the Self-Esteem and Self-Respect series several days ago. This series focuses on teaching character traits through stories. In today’s book Bea’s Own Good, Bea learns the importance of following rules. You will also find another free book in this series, Bailey’s Birthday, where Bailey learns the importance of good behavior with or without reward. Both books are illustrated beautifully by Andrea Chase and worth downloading if for no other reason than to just to look at the pictures. As with the other books in this series, the type is extremely small.
A King in a Court of Fools by Larry Enright
Today, we have two eBooks by Larry Enright for free (A King in a Court of Fools and Buffalo Nickle Christmas). Both books appear to be nostalgic looks at American life in the mid 1900s, the first about childhood and the second about Christmas.

Thanks for reading. What do you think of today’s free kids’ eBook selection?

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you do. I love reading to my kids. Having an IPhone with me at all times, ebooks work great for reading to them while waiting in line, at a restaurant or even while we have lunch. Every time I see your pin pop up on Pinterest I rush to Amazon to download the newest free books. From one Mom to another…..THANK YOU!!!!!!
Thank you so much, Jen. It always encourages me so much to hear that other moms are enjoying these books. : )
