Today, we have a very nice list of free kids’ eBooks from the Kindle Store. I was excited to see for free a couple Christian picture books, a story to help children understand and befriend autistic children, and a wide variety of novels on different age levels.
A week ago, a reader asked if I knew of a way to organize eBooks on the Kindle Fire and Cloud Drive. From my research, it looks like Amazon has not provided any organizational tools other than the favorites bar. I’m a little disappointed in this answer, because the original ink screen Kindle allows “collections”. Hopefully, Amazon will provide a feature like the collections for the Kindle Fire in the future, and I will be sure to let you know if I hear anything of that sort!
Welcome to all my new readers. Take a minute and read through these important notes before you check out today’s list of free eBooks:
- Don’t forget to check prices before downloading. These eBooks typically will remain free for only a short period of time.
- You can read a Kindle eBook on non-Amazon devices by downloading their free app unto your PC or i-pad.
- Although, I try to screen as much content as I can, I am not able to fully read and screen each book. This article reflects my opinion based on what I have seen. Download and share these books with your children at your own risk.
- If you want to get these lists while the books are still free, be sure to subscribe via my RSS feed for instant updates. Email subscribers will receive one email a day between 5-7 pm EST.

Some of the best kids’ eBooks available free today:
Pie-Rits: A Pirate Adventure by Julia Dweck and Fian Arroyo
This picture book about some baked goods that go on adventure to rescue their dough from the Pie-rits is really rather corny for my tastes, but I’m listing it first because I know my husband and son who love punny jokes will love it. (And, even I will admit that some of the puns were clever.)
Samantha Loses the Box Turtle by Daisy Griffin and Matthew Gauvin
This elementary grade chapter book combines a story about a girl who finds and then loses a pet turtle with information about turtles and the ecosystem.
The American Storybag: A Collection of Tales by Gerald Hausman
This collection of short stories from American folklore and history has a number of 5 star reviews and has even won an award.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. I don’t post a free eBook list on Sunday, but be sure to stop back by on Monday! (Not only will I be sharing a new list, but I’m super excited to be guest posting on Make and Takes for Storybook Summer.)
