Keep Kids Reading this Summer

Do you want to keep your kids reading this summer? Well, here are four great ideas for how to motivate some summer reading and earn some rewards while you are at it:

Participate in Readathon 2012! This program will begin on June 18th. If you register with MemeTales, for six weeks, you will get to borrow online copies of books and earn stickers for participating. As an added bonus, a meal will be donated to a hungry child for every child that participates. I am excited that I will be a blog leader for Readathon 2012. So register and then follow No Twiddle Twaddle for fun ideas on how to bring those books to life!

Read with the Summer Virtual Book Club for Kids. Each month, we will choose an author. All you have to do is pick one book by that author, create an activity, blog about it, and link up. Even if you don’t blog, we would love to have you follow along by reading some books by the selected author! June will feature Mo Willems, and No Twiddle Twaddle will be a co-host, so be sure to check here on June 18th to see what awesome activities everyone has come up with. I am super excited about the activity we are doing, but it is hush, hush for now!

Read and Win: Summer Reading Challenge with No Time for Flashcards – This challenge is super easy. All you have to do is register with No Time for Flashcards and send in your form of how many books you have read each week, and you could win a $50 Amazon gift card!

Check out your library’s summer reading programs – I know that my library has reading challenges with great prices for ages from infants to teenagers. Chances are your library does too!
