Free Kindle Picture Books

I am always trying to check out the free picture books for children available for Kindle, so I thought I might start sharing what I find. Keep in mind that these books probably will not remain free forever, so be sure to check the price before purchasing, and if you want them buy them now!

In my opinion, most of the free picture books are not very high quality in illustrations or text. But, recently I’ve seen some with real photos (always better than bad drawings) and simple text that at least is not annoying even if not brilliant. In any case, these books would be fun for children to look at or to entertain a baby with in a pinch!

I Love . . .
This picture book has cute photos of babies accompanied by a rhyme about why babies are special.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit
I was happy to get this free copy of Peter Rabbit with classic illustrations!

Clyde the Cat Loves to Count

Just a basic counting book. Writing and graphics are lower quality, but kids would enjoy counting the objects.

Jungle Fun

Animals hiding in the jungle and making noises. Babies would enjoy looking at the pictures and making animal sounds.

Learn to Read: Essential Sight Words Series

This is a basic sight reader set for beginner readers. Only a few illustrations (to keep the child focused on the words) and a bit boring, but it may be useful for some practice reading on the go.

My First Book of Sports & Games

I liked that your child can click on interactive text in this book to learn about each sport.

Horse and Hen Count to Ten

Unfortunately, my reader won’t let me download this book. But, it seems like a counting book (most likely with an annoying rhyme), but you never know . . .

Tip of the Toes

Story about a young ballerina whose teacher gives her a “magical” bow to help on performance night.

I’m a bit disappointed, because I actually downloaded some very nice children’s books just last night that are no longer free. I will just start sharing immediately if I see anything that would interest others, so be sure to follow via rss feed or email if you want to get those notifications!
