Summary: The Jesus Storybook Bible
Sally Lloyd-Jones tells the story of Jesus, starting at Genesis and ending at Revelation. Every one of the forty-four Bible stories in The Jesus Storybook Bible point to God’s love for his children — a “Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love.” A Love that ultimately is fulfilled in Christ.

Illustrations: The Jesus Storybook Bible
Jago illustrated The Jesus Storybook Bible with his trademark bright colorful drawings. The illustrations are bright and engaging yet avoid that cutesie style that often characterizes children’s story bibles.
My Opinion: The Jesus Storybook Bible
The Jesus Storybook Bible is my favorite children’s religious book for the following reasons:
- Sally Lloyd-Jones tells the story of the Bible as a coherent whole rather than just presenting the Bible as a series of moralistic tales. In fact, I would consider giving this storybook Bible even to an adult who wanted to understand the full message of the Bible.
- The writing is engaging, fresh, and will captivate children’s imaginations. Two year-olds love The Jesus Storybook Bible, but parents love reading it too!
- The Jesus Storybook Bible is Christ-centered. Every story points to Christ. Every story encourages love and affection for Him.
My (small) reservation:
- In my opinion, a couple sections err on the side of silliness (ex. “Daniel and the scary sleepover”).
