Summary: And I Love You
A mother cat and her kitten explore different scenes with dialogue in poetic form:
big seas
love little shells
big stories
love little words to fly around in
big skies
love little skyscrapers
and I love you
Illustrations: And I Love You
Kellogg illustrates And I Love You with vivid colorful pastels. Even the words are incorporated into the imaginative scenes.
My Opinion: And I Love You
1. I thought the writing was mostly boring and meaningless (ex. big forest love little trees). (For different opinion, you can read kirkusreviews.)
2. The illustrations were outstanding. In fact, the illustrations propped up the writing on several pages (see below: “big stories love little words to float around in”).
3. For a toddler, I think And I Love You would be enjoyed because of the imaginative pictures. Compared to other low word-count books I have read; this book is better than the majority of them.
Any differing opinions on this book?
